Design kids room of you dream

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

With not much space outside for kids to play, the kids should not limit their physical activity. With such a wide range of products available today you can design a perfect getaway for your kids in a separate room.

There are online stores which offer game tables which you can keep in your game rooms, these also supply home fitness equipment. Your kid’s room can have game tables for air hockey, pool, shuffle board, table tennis. There are 3 in 1, 4 in 1, 9 in 1 and also 14 in1 multi game tables also. These game tables have pool, table tennis, push hockey, football, bowling, chess, backgammon, shuffle board, and draughts with all the accessories included.

While buying, care should be taken to ensure that these are of good height and ergonomically designed otherwise these are bad for kids posture when he will be spending much time on playing games. Stores selling home fitness equipment also keep these game tables. These game tables will liven up your game room and kids will be happy spending hours inside the room. The game room can have kid games like board games, strategy games, and RC toys, classic games like monopoly, scrabble, and trivial pursuit. Even adults can play these games with kids which teach them very important lessons of life.

Lots of Parties

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

I seem to be getting so many invitations at the moment. I love going out to places but sometimes wonder how, in this time of economic crisis, how people can afford to have parties and celebrations. I am not begrudging them, I mean it is nice to have something else to think about rather than the state of the world economy and one`s own bank balance but by throwing a party you are likely to be worrying about it even more in the future. I have received two party invitations just this week and I am worrying about the expense of buying a present and a new outfit – goodness know how the people throwing the party will afford everything that they will need.

I guess I should just decide to enjoy it and not worry about that sort of thing for them. I am hoping that I can get a new outfit that will suit both of these parties. I have also received a graduation invitation and if I decide to go, I am hoping that it will be suitable for that as well. Goodness there is so much going on lately and so much socialising to do, it should be great fun!

Taiyo Yuden DVD

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I am looking for a DVD player to buy for my husband for his birthday. Ours has been ruined by the children stuffing all sorts of things in to t and it makes a nasty noise when it plays DVD’s which is not good. I figured that rather than tell him that the children have broken it, I will buy him a Taiyo Yuden DVD which is one that he has wanted for ages and pretend that it was a special treat to replace the cheap one that we bought before because we were skint.

Hopefully he will not see through my plan and will be so overawed by the DVD Yuden that he will not even bother about chucking the old one away. I will have to make sure that the children look after the new one or perhaps that they are not allowed to touch it at all. Although I can be a bit heavy handed with things myself – maybe I should keep the old one for me and the boys and let my husband be the only one allowed to touch the new one!

Travolta son’s death caused by “seizure disorder”

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Actor John Travolta’s son, Jett, died from “seizure disorder,” a Bahamas funeral home official said on Monday after pathologists performed an autopsy on the body of the teenager who suffered a seizure last week at his family’s holiday home.

Bahamian authorities did not make public the results of the autopsy, which was observed by Travolta’s family doctor. Police Commissioner Reginald Ferguson said the findings would not be released because “there is nothing criminal about the situation.”

Keith McSweeney, funeral director for the Restview Memorial Mortuary in Freeport, where the boy’s body was sent after the autopsy, said the death certificate listed “seizure disorder” as the cause of death.

Jett, 16, had a history of seizures and was found unconscious in a bathroom at his family’s home in the Old Bahama Bay resort on Grand Bahama Island on Friday morning. He was pronounced dead after being taken by ambulance to Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport.

Dozens of relatives flew to Grand Bahama to comfort John Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, said Obie Wilchcombe, a member of parliament for western Grand Bahama.

The couple, who also have an 8-year-old daughter, Ella, issued a statement on Sunday saying they were heartbroken by the loss of their son.

“Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered,” Travolta said in the statement. “We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time that we had with him for the rest of our lives.”

John Travolta and paramedics tried without success to resuscitate the boy.

The family’s statement did not refer to Jett’s medical history or possible cause of death. But Travolta’s lawyers, Michael Ossi and Michael McDermott, were quoted on Sunday as saying Jett apparently suffered from grand mal seizures, which can cause loss of consciousness.

He was on an anti-seizure medication called Depakote for several years, Ossi and McDermott told the celebrity website TMZ.

They said the drug’s use was suspended after it lost its effectiveness amid concern about side effects, however, and that Jett had been suffering about one extremely serious seizure a week.

Travolta and his wife have said that Jett was sick when he was a toddler and was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, which leads to inflammation of the blood vessels in young children.

Five looks for the season

Friday, October 17th, 2008

The first day at WIFW gave us a glimpse of the trends that would be haute in the Spring/Summer 2009. We arrived at these trends by seeing the ‘Highest Common Factor’ in the collections showcased on Day1.

Ruffle Rage: These artful waves and curves or what is technically called Structural Ruffles was a favourite amongst most designers. Shine on Sequins: These new spring styles were spot on.

‘Shine on Baby’ seemed to be the loud message. It was a fresh switch from metallics.

Waist Matter: It was interesting to see everyone’s obsession with belts turn to more organic knots and ties. Cummerbunds, draped knots, corset belts and regular belts were omnipresent.

Divine Drapes: Jersey gowns, satin gowns, Empire-line dresses, Tent-shaped dresses with draped yoke were highly visible on the ramp. Floral Fantasy: Flowers ruled- from embroideries to structural ruffles, floral appliqu and #233; work to floral prints.

Most designers used flowers in one way or the other.

I have learnt to enjoy controversies: Nisha Kothari

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s discovery Nisha aka Priyanka Kothari says she has learnt to enjoy the controversies that surround her because they are an intrinsic part of an actor’s career.

‘I don’t feel bad when my name figures in controversies. I didn’t do anything consciously to be a part of those controversies, but controversies surround me. Now, I enjoy controversies and look at their positive side,’ Nisha told IANS.

However, she doesn’t like it when she is romantically linked with her mentor Varma.

‘Don’t ascribe things that do not relate to me. Varmaji was only a director to me and I remained an actress of his films,’ Nisha said when asked about her present equations with the filmmaker.

Nisha debuted with a cameo in Varma’s ‘Sarkar’ followed by a full-fledged role in his crime thriller ‘James’. She also featured as Basanti in ‘Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag’, a remake of the 1975 hit ‘Sholay’.

She was also in the news for her skin show on screen, but the actress doesn’t regret it.

When her career didn’t take off in Bollywood, Nisha reverted to her original name Priyanka and moved down south. But her first Telugu film ‘Okka Magaadu’, in which she was paired with Balakrishna, bombed.

But the actress, still better known as Nisha, is happy because despite a bad start she is getting offers. She is working in a Telugu film and also signed a Kannada film ‘Raaj, the Showman’ in which she has teamed up with Kannada star Puneet Raj Kumar.

The actress has replaced glamorous actress Malavika in a bilingual film that will be made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu.

Nisha is one more addition to the list of the not so successful Bollywood heroines who are making a splash in the South Indian film industry.

Currently, the actress is shooting for her debut Kannada film in Madikeri, 250 km from here.

Nisha may well take up some more offers down south, but reiterates that she would take up Kannada offers only after she completes her work in ‘Raaj, the Showman’.

‘I have worked in two schedules of the film so far in Bangalore and Mysore. We have now moved to Madikeri to shoot some songs. I am really enjoying the work here. Director Prem focuses more on details. And with a big star like Puneet Raj Kumar supporting me with the dialogues, I am really smiling all the time,’ said Nisha.

Asked about her decision to revert to her original name, she said: ‘My father suggested that I change by name. I decided to have my original name. After the name change, I am seeing a big turnaround in my career,’ she said.

Long-ing for some leisurely moments

Ranna Gill’s spring/summer ‘09 collection is vibrant and made out of fluid jersey. The kaftans, the knee-length dresses and maxi dresses have geometrical patterns in bright shades of jade, aqua, purple, orange and mustard.

The most significant element of Ranna’s designs is the modern embellishment that she has sparingly used on necklines, hems and bodices. Beads, sequins and threads adorn the garments.

Her thread work jackets and skirts are to look out for. Ranna’s mastery over colour-combos, prints and petit point embroideries promises nirvana to fashionistas.
