Ok I want to make spanish rice with just rice, water, tomato sauce and an onion. All the recipes I’ve clicked on say , tomato paste, tomatoes chopped up, garlic, onions, veggies, and chicken broth. Well I don’t have any of that, all I have is tomato sauce, the rice, and an onion. Is this ok, and how do I make it. I don’t know how much water, how much rice, how much tomato sauce.

OK, put a tiny bit of oil in the pan, pour the rice in, and sautee it. Then pour the tomato sauce in…I use about 3/4 of a small can and add your onions, salt and pepper and fill to the top with water. Bring it to a boil. Then put it on low and cover to simmer until soft. Do not stir it too much or it will get mushy.

Spanish Rice Recipe

* 12 inch frying pan, with tight fitting lid
* 2 cups long grain white rice
* 1/4 cup canola oil
* 1 yellow onion cut into 1 inch chunks
* 1 bell pepper any color, cut into 1 inch pieces
* 3 cloves of garlic, minced or 3 heaping tsp garlic powder
* 3/4 cup tomato puree
* 2 tsp sea salt
* 2 3/4 cups of chicken broth
* 3/4 cup of frozen peas

Add the oil to the pan and put heat on to medium high. Add the rice and saute until golden brown approximately 10 - 15 minutes. Then add the onion and bell pepper and saute another 5 - 10 minutes.

The important thing is to make sure the rice is toasted to a nice golden brown.

Using a garlic press, add the minced fresh garlic by squeezing the press and cutting off the garlic as it comes out, with a knife.

Continue to saute for an additional 3 minutes. You will notice a wonderful garlic aroma.

Add the tomato puree, chicken broth and salt. Stir and turn heat up to high. Bring to a full boil while stirring. Continue to boil for 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

When it’s done, turn off the heat, remove the lid and stir in the peas. Replace the lid and wait 5 minutes before serving.

You have just made some wonderfully flavorful Spanish rice.

Cooking is like an art and it’s okay to try different things and experiment. So if you think of something different you want to add, go for it.

For those of you who like to follow a recipe, you should have great success following this spanish rice recipe.

What are some good ingredients to add to a dry chicken soup mix ?

saute’ some onions celery and carrots in a litttle butter only a few minutes because they will still cook when you add the soup mix and water it calls for. If it doesn’t have noodles in it already, toss a handful of whatever noodle you may have on hand.

80s party question?

13th birthday comin up any ideas on a 80’s birthday party for 4 girls?

INVITATIONS
Get some shoulder pads. Send each girl a set of shoulder pads with the invitation written on it,Tell them it’s time to don their spandex and leather for an 80’s parties, along with their loudest retro clothing and high top sneakers. Put the item in an envelope. Another option is to send them a can of Aqua Net hair spray, with a note attached. On the front of the envelope or the note, write, “You’re gonna need this…”

DECORATIONS
Plaster the walls with posters featuring 1980’s bands and stars in their brashest, boldest outfits. Many of today’s stars may be recognized and give your guests a laugh to see them in the former fashion trends of the 80’s. Make signs with 80’s sayings, such as, “Fer Shuuuur,” “Frankie Says Relax!” “Where’s The Beef?” and, “You Gotta Fight For Your Right To Party.” Place them on the walls. Since CD’s came out and began to gain popularity in the 80’s, decorate the room with them by hanging them from the ceiling or plastering them on the walls, or making a CD mobile by hanging them from hangers with strings. Any objects that were wild fads make great decorations: Cabbage Patch Dolls, stuffed Pac-Man dolls, Rubik’s Cubes, gremlins, and neon colored Koosh balls. Get a dry erase marker, and, on the bathroom mirror, write, “For a good time call Jenny: 867-5309,” and, “Get Well Ferris Bueller!” Get an old electronic keyboard– or even better, a key-tar, if you can come across one– and have them in case the mood to jam strikes your guests.

ACTIVITIES
Have a Rubik’s Cube contest– give each guest a Rubik’s Cube, one of the most popular puzzles in the 80’s, and have a race to see who can get one side completed first. Have a Valley Girl Speak contest– give each person a card with a passage from the song, “Valley Girl,” written on it, and have them read it out loud. Vote on the best Valley Girl speaker. Watch, “The Breakfast Club,” or, “Sixteen Candles.” If you have a video game system, have a Pac-Man tournament. See if you can find an old Simon game and have a contest with that as well. Play “Hair Scare.” Print out some pictures of popular 80’s stars with the more outrageous hair cuts. Carefully cut out the hair and put it on one side of a bulletin board, and the face on the other. See if your guests can match the face to the hair. For more fun, print out some more life-size face pictures, but this time just cut out the face. Let your guests hold the picture up and put their face in the hole to see how they would look in 80’s hair.

REFRESHMENTS
Serve up sushi on clean CD’s, Jell-o jigglers in the shapes of Pac-Man and ghosts, and cocktail weenies. Doritos and all kinds of chips/dips were a staple in the 80’s party diet. Pepsi was also very popular in the 80’s, as the commercials deemed it “the Pepsi generation,” as were colorful beverages such as sunrise punches, and juice bags– a new concept in beverage containers. Make a big birthday cake, frost it with pink icing, and put 16 candles on it.

GOODY BAGS
Give your friends a bag full of Hello, Kitty items, multi-color click pens, rubber bracelets, and some funky shaped sun glasses.

I want to make mozzarella sticks but not alot and i dont want to use the deep-fryer.
Could i just get a pan drizzle it with oil and cook them on that on each side?
What can i do?

Yes, you can do it that way. Make yourself a batter to dip the strips of cheese in, fry them in the oil and enjoy!!!

Good luck!!

Here’s a recipe if you don’t have one:

1 block of any hard cheese
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon tabasco
1 medium egg
1/2 cup finely grated cheese
Buttermilk

Place cheese in freezer for one half hour. Remove cheese and cut into 1″ thick strips just before cooking. Mix batter; add corn meal and flour, salt, tabasco, egg and add buttermilk until at a consistency slightly thinner than toothpaste.

Dip cheese sticks into batter (use toothpicks to handle them) carefully place in a pan of hot oil making sure that oil covers good, do not put in to many at once or they will stick together. When browned evenly remove and immediately roll in grated cheese.

1/4 cup water
1 1/2 cups Italian bread crumbss

1/3 cup cornstarch
Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

If using brick-form mozzarella, cut the cheese into finger-size sticks.

Beat the eggs with water and set aside.

Mix bread crumbs, garlic salt and Italian seasoning and set aside.

Blend flour with cornstarch and set aside.

Heat vegetable oil to 360 degrees F.

Dip cheese in flour, then in egg wash and then coat with bread crumbs. Place carefully in hot oil and fry until golden. This takes just a few seconds so watch carefully. When golden, remove from hot oil and drain

Jura Capresso for Best-tasting Coffee Experience

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Modern society has incorporated coffee into a lot of social activities. When a guy asks a woman out, he asks her to have a cup of coffee with him. It is also customary that the morning beverage be coffee. A cup of coffee is also normally offered to a house or office guest. Most business meetings are also discussed over a cup of coffee. Such is the importance of this beverage that it is now normal to find a coffee shop in each street corner.

With the ever-increasing popularity of coffee and coffee shops it has been observed that the market for coffee paraphernalia and equipment has also skyrocketed. Since the need for coffee and coffee equipment has increased, more and more businesses are jumping to the bandwagon by banking on the coffee craze.

One such company is Capresso which is a privately held company in the United States. This company caters to the coffee-drinking public by providing high-end coffeemakers, grinders, espresso machines, and other kitchen electronic equipment.

The founder of Capresso, Incorporated was Michael Kramm. This company was founded only in 1994. Kramm is actually a native of Germany yet he went to the United States to try to develop the Krups market in the U.S. Kramm also serves as the president of Krups USA. He was also the one to introduce the American consumers to high-end European style coffeemakers. This very move launched the market for the U.S. in-home espresso. This market is now estimated at $200 million in retail.

One of Capresso’s most famous products is the Jura-Capresso automatic coffee centers. These coffee centers are marketed in the U.S. (a joint venture with Switzerland’s Jura AG) as automatic cappuccino and espresso units (Capresso being so-named, by Kramm’s wife for 35 years, as it means cappuccino and espresso put together).

This joint venture came into existence in 2003 when Capresso, Inc. has started to market Jura Capresso automatic coffee centers with Jura AG of Switzerland. Jura dominates the global market when it comes to the premium segment of automatic coffee centers. Over forty countries share this great product.

Other high-end products include the programmable coffeemaker called Coffee TEAM which comes with a built-in burr grinder in the shape of a cone. Another quality product is the Capresso MT500 a stainless steel lined drip coffeemaker.

Coffee drinking has never been this grand before. In fact, there is nothing simple about making and serving coffee anymore (unlike you’d like to settle for an instant coffee!). With these latest innovations in coffee drinking, no modern man should go without a Capresso product at home!

Help with fondue please?

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

I just made some fondue, these are the ingredients…..

8 oz. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
8 oz. Swiss cheese, shredded
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 clove garlic
1 can (12 oz.) beer
Dash Tabasco

It’s all ready to go except it has a ring of grease around the edges of the fondue pot/bowl. Any way to fix this or get rid of it?

I thought I solved this problem once when I wadded up a piece of paper towel and went around the edge of the pot with it. It worked for about 5 minutes! Stir, stir, stir! Nothing else will work.

Recipe sounds yummy. I’m sure it’s probably all gone now!

——-

no fondue is always gonna be greasy dont worry !!!its the natural oils in the cheese. you can scoop some out but thats the best you can do.
