If you could enforce laws, what laws would you enforce for gays, and which ones for straights?

Gays can do whatever they want with impunity. We would have immunity from all laws whatsoever.

Straights would have to hide in the closet and pretend to be gay because they live in fear of being evicted, fired, denied every possible benefit imaginable such as inheritance, health care, adoption, marriage, divorce, etc., or even being murdered just for loving a different gender. Breeders would pay twice the tax as gays to pay for all those kids they make and to pay for all the extra things we’ll have to to do make the world pretty again. They’d be limited to jobs like removing carbon from the atmosphere, scrubbing oil off of seals in Alaska, and sorting the recyclables. Anyone who worked for an oil company would be permanently bound to a pillory in public places around the country and used as sex slaves for anyone who walked by. The Exxon people would get worked over every afternoon at 4:00 PM ET on live television by the leading masters and dominatrices of the gay scene.

Schools and the arts get billions of dollars of funding each year, but the military has to have bake sales to raise money for guns and bullets. And for Goddess’s sake, they’d get rid of those awful green uniforms and get something stylish instead, like what the Mounties wear.

Gym memberships would be mandatory but free, as would stylists of all kinds (hair stylists, clothes stylists, lifestyle stylists, decorators, etc). Everyone would drive electric cars, which would be charged up by straight people who run in giant hampster wheels that generate electricity. Any breeder who produced a gay baby would receive a thank-you gift of a year off from slave labor and time to relax at a cottage on the shores of one of the Great Lakes of their choice. They would be encouraged to produce more gay babies by having all the Viagra they want and no condoms.

The brightest of gay scientists would develop a saw that could cut through Earth’s crust, allowing Utah to just fall directly into Earth’s mantle, saving us all that de-programming. Gays cannot decide if they should do the same with Dixie or not, because there are some damn hot rednecks and they have good beaches there. Instead the South is re-segregated by gender so that the men can learn from the other men how to be men, and the women the same (no more of that macho bullshit the men pull because of the women around, and vice versa).

Where did the custom of wearing ties with a suit come from? what country? what year?

Friday, June 13th, 2008

I was wondering why a tie is considered essential with a suit and where did the practice originate?

The necktie along with the ascot and bow tie are descendants of the cravat. The cravat orginated in the 1630’s with Croatian mercenaries who came to fight for King Louis XIII wearing colourful scarves which became known as cravats. King Charles II brought it over the English channel after his exile.

It went out of fashion for a while in the 1700’s but it became fashionable again in the 1770’s. By 1815, cravats were becoming known as ties because you tied it according to your desire. The cravat evolved into the bow tie. The modern tie also called a four-in-hand developed in the 1850’s in Victorian England and became required business attire from then on. The old school tie dates from the 1800’s in England. American manufacturer Jesse Langdorf simplified the manufacturing process in 1926.

The modern neck tie is supposed to have popped into existence around 1668, after the 30 Years’ War that ran from 1618 to 1648. Louis XIV had some mercenaries, Croatian army soldiers, presented to him while they were visiting Paris. He was impressed by the scarves that they wore around their neck, and had knotted into a cravat. In fact, the word “cravat” probably comes from the word “Croat”. The cravat began to turn into the modern neck tie around 1710.
