My 2 week old son only spits up after breast feeding and it mostly comes out through his nose. This makes me nervous, but I don’t want to call the dr if it’s common. He only throws up after breast milk only.. not formula. Is it something that could be in my milk?
My baby sometimes does this too. It’s normal, but it makes you feel bad…:(

Maybe he’s just better off with the formula. He likes it better. Also, since it’s coming out through his nose, it’s probably just because he’s got it in the back of his throat and it makes it easier for the fluid to go up through the nasal cavity. I doubt it’s uncommon. Just stick with the formula.

It could be something you are eating… everything that you eat affects your milk in one way or another. I also agree with the previous poster… if you are bottle feeding him in a more upright position, but then breastfeeding lying flat, it may be the positioning instead of substance you are feeding. I would do a double check on your diet though… do you drink a lot of caffeine? Do you eat spicy foods? Your milk is really good for your baby, especially at this young age, so if you can figure it out and continue breastfeeding, it really is best.
